I would take X followed by 4♠ as both majors (♠>♥) not strong enough for an immediate 4♣.
I don't consider this to be a great hand, and after 3NT, I would pass 4♠, and bid 4♠ over 4♦ or 4♥. If partner bids 4♣, then we're off to the races.

Agree.
I like to play over 3♣:
4♣= strong 5-5 majors
4♦= marginal 5-5 majors.
The point of this is, of course, that 5-5 majors hands are so anxious to get the suits in that they would want to bid on quite small values.
