Well, 2 for starters. This clearly requires more information, so I'm not going berserk just yet :) Not unless opps force me, that is.. lol.

3 and pull 3NT to 4. Although 5 could be better.

unfortunately partner is probably 4432, 4441, something like that.

I'm bidding 2C, then 3C, then 4D

IMO 2 = 10, 5 = 9, 6 = 8 :), 4 = 7, 3 = 6.
Your instinct is to pre-empt but you would like a lead in the unlikely event that vulnerable opponents outbid you.

this hand can be potentially huge (especially if p promises 4+ dia). The problem with
bidding 2c is it risks losing the dia suit and (if opps have the temerity to bid) 2c
grossly overstates our power.

The 2d (inverted minor) bid allows us to much more closely show our power and we will still be able to show our club suit at extremely high levels that will help p determine
just how well our hands mesh. I would be a ton happier defending if P x opps bid after i make limit + raise and show fit than i would be if i had not shown dia fit with 2c bid.

Can't imagine bidding anything but 2C. I have no idea what will happen, and I have no idea where I want to play. If I only knew in which suit I wanted to play, it might be reasonable to preempt to some high level, but since partner can have something like Axx Qx in the minors I have no clue. And of course if partner has a good hand for us it could easily be a slam.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I think 2D and 3H are bad. We won't be able to play in clubs if we start by raising diamonds, but we can easily end in diamonds if we start with bidding clubs.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
