I'll take this bus even standing. Thnaks for that idiom.
I see no problem.
Hope partner has 4-5 spades too weak to come in before.
Correcting 3C to 3D gets 4s with 5+D and this level strength.

Actually another DBL may work much better, especially if they are red. I kinda don't like my initial 3 reply.

Prefer 3D to double by quite a long way.

I think double is perfect. Hopefully we play 2N as scrambling, will implies the minors, and this hand gets very good. Further, if partner bids clubs, we likely don't have any future in diamonds, and this is a good dummy.

Lebensohl would also be nice here, but I don't know anyone that plays it like this.

Do you agree with the bidding so far?

No, I'd have started with 2. Then my second double would have described my hand perfectly.

As it is, I bid i reluctant 3. There's a limit to how long I suppress a good 6-cardsuit in a strong hand.

My first 3 response was for the same reason you stated. OP did not say the vulnerability or scoring, but i think it is important here, especially vulnerability.

White vs Red DBL seems perfect to me, i have a lot to bring to table in defense, if pd has good hearts. But if we are red and they white, i would like to lean more towards game by for our side with a good hand and a good 6 card .

I brought this up because at our table my pd bd 3. Now responder bid 3 and I wasn't sure if pd had 4 spades. The auction continued P P Dbl P

My hand was

I'm not sure of the spots except hearts because the site is having problems. I chose to pass, we beat it one for nothing.

I think that:

Double then double shows 3-4 spades
Double then 3 doesn't promise any spade length, but won't usually have four
2 then 2 shows four spades
2 then double typically has three spades

... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

A very good summary imo.

your pass with 3 diamonds is wrong, too many diamonds on your side for double to be profitable, 4 or perhaps 3 are much better bids.

I understand what you are saying but it is a bit naive. Trade the A for a small and you might bid it the same way. How about trading a honor (or a small ) for a small ? I personally would never expect my pd to be this big for a balancing double after an overcall.
