You hold:

942, KQ, AJT6, K943 in 2nd seat all Red. The auction (opponents only)

1H-1S
2H-3N
4H-AP

What's your lead?

Heart K. I don't think spades are going to provide much in terms of discards, so I think I can afford to go passive.

I would lead the club 4, not the 9. I take it you thought partner would be almost broke so the chance of misleading declarer is greater than the chance of misleading declarer. That may be true.

If declarer has Kx AJxxxxx Kxx x we can beat this by playing a spade. If declarer then wins in hand and plays the ace of hearts and another, we can beat the contract by playing another spade.

If declarer has KQx A10xxxxx Qx x then we need to play a diamond, but I think that this is quite a bit less likely.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

contrary to Nuno, I think going pasive here is a mistake co declarer has shortness somewhere, and leading from KQ when declarer might make a double losing finese is also a bad idea.

I´d lead a club, my sytemic one is third.

I think the actual lead was very creative and good. Well, At least it turned out good. A spade now seems fine.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

lol, wrote a huge block of text to just realize my analysis was wrong :D retry:

I assume declarer holds 3721 or 2731, with more extreme shape I think we have even less chances though I haven't though them through.
In the second case we might have two diamond tricks to cash now or we could gift declarer if he holds DK.
The thing is that we are in no hurry to cash those diamonds as partner can ruff the club if declarer tries playing on them.
So we can just shift to a spade. We will get in with the heart and maybe partner's signals can help us figure out the position.

Thanks for all the responses. I should have found the spade switch. I was worried that if I led a spade, he'd win the King in hand (or something), pull trump, and pitch diamonds on clubs. Oops.
