4♥ = natural raise (he'd forgotten the agreement)
5♦ = cue-bid

East called me at the end of the auction to say that 3♥ should have been alerted. I offered North the chance to change his final pass if he would have made a different call with the correct information. He declined.

Result: 6♠(W) -1, NS +50, lead ♦8

East called me back at the end of play to suggest that NS could have been damaged by the misinformation. He suggested that South could have doubled 3♥ had he known it didn't show the suit.

Do you think NS have been damaged?

no. it looks like east was doing the ethical thing by treating 4 hearts as a slam try when he knew it wasn't. if the 3 hearts was doubled (and we would need to ask what double means because many people would play it as take-out of spades, which obviously south isn't strong enough for), no doubt west wouldn't feel the need to raise to game and east wouldn't be endplayed into overbidding. you can adjust from 6s-1 to 4s-1 if you're really keen.
