Inter-county teams-of-eight, cross-IMPs -> VPs
2♠ (alerted) = weak, 5-5 in spades and a minor
3♥ (not alerted) = good raise to at least 3♠
4♥ = natural raise (he'd forgotten the agreement)
5♦ = cue-bid
6♥ and 6♠ = to play
East called me at the end of the auction to say that 3♥ should have been alerted. I offered North the chance to change his final pass if he would have made a different call with the correct information. He declined.
Result: 6♠(W) -1, NS +50, lead ♦8
East called me back at the end of play to suggest that NS could have been damaged by the misinformation. He suggested that South could have doubled 3♥ had he known it didn't show the suit.
Do you think NS have been damaged?
