EBAY bidding

Never tried to get anything off of ebay before.

Any tips on how to bid or what I should be careful about when bidding on say used electronics stuff?

Not planning on bidding alot on anything in any event but any tips or advice helpful.

Don't get into a bidding war -- this may find you paying more than you had planned. Best to wait until the last minute and then bid the maximum amount you are willing to pay. If there is a "Buy it Now" option, I usually take it to avoid hassle.

i shop a lot on ebay, but never bid... i always look for 'buy it now' items and i always start with those that offer free shipping... even then i usually end up paying about half of what the item would cost at the mall, and never have to leave the house

I generally either use the BUY NOW option (if There)

Or I am quite adept at waiting poised until the time gets to 20 seconds then puttiong bid in

Works a lot of times

in an efficient market, this is true. Markets are not efficient, and certainly not the ebay market.

I see your point, of course, but your willingness to pay $1k for an item does not mean you can't get it new at Best Buy for $499.
