And I disagree that pass is clearly better than pass.

No way! Pass is marginally better than pass! I'd stake my life on it.

Over that pard can pass with 6 of them and spade shortness or 5 if it's doubled.
That said, I am only tempted and agree with the rest that it's a very swinging action and the downside is larger than the upside.
pass is clearly better than PASS. My pard is a balancing machine should it go pass back to them but we don't open as aggressively as the op states..

At imps the upside is small and the downside is large. I would consider pass a good tactical action, on a hand otherwise worth 2S.

If we had that, and it was matchpoints, maybe that would be enough "outs" to waltz in there at these colors. We have had a lot of success against pairs who like to disturb our NT.
DONT in the hands of a good pair who use judgement instead of just doing something every time is powerful as a weapon, however. That is off-topic, and I don't believe doing something with this hand would be a good idea.

- If they end up in 3N, I'd rather them not to know about the spade problem.
- If they end up in 4♥ (not unlikely), I like my defensive chances, and I certainly don't want partner thinking 4♠ is making or its a -200 save.
- We could go for a nasty number. Even if they pass out 2♠, its probably because they are both 3-3, so 200 looms (assuming MPs).
- Even at MPs, what are we trying to gain? We have 8, our RHO has 15. We need to catch partner with a good hand and a fit for this to make, assuming we are trying for +110 against +100 defending.

Iffy suit, minimal values, a passed partner and red vs white.
How many warnigs do you need to pass?

I would bid in direct seat with ♠A109652 ♥K1084 ♦J ♣96 <-- One loser fewer, and 2♠ is my call...
