Not quite sure why I didn't mention this in my OP, but -

What about 33(43) responding hands with an honour in each unbid suit? It feels good to try to get those to 3NT not 3M/4M when pard is 5332, so would you tend to start with a forcing NT, should you have one available, to indicate flexibility?

Yes. We have been to using the two-step (1M-1N,2x-3N) to show a very good flat G.F. raise and giving opener the choice of games for a couple years. Opener's appropriate judgement in these situations has been a huge plus. Responder's choice of when to use the toy is also important. Partnership discussion, however, is necessary when opener is rude enough to screw up the plan by showing a big hand and/or longer in her major :rolleyes:

This is one G.F. possibility for our forcing NT. The other is the hand with 5 card major support, but a bit too strong for the 4M direct preempt.
