How can 3♣ be "well judged" and "automatic" at the same time escapes me.
When i looked at the auction, i thought 3♣ bid was as normal as it can be. But when i read that it is called "weird" and questioned even by a very good player like Arend (Cherdano), now i am more leaning towards calling it "well judged"
Perhaps this is why MikeH missed the aimed person, just like me, whose bid was in question.

Never the politician, I voted for well judged because that was one of the voting options while
automatic was not (political choice?). Automatic means that in this situation to not bid 3c
would make no sense to me at all (ie rating somewhere around a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 there
are worse things than pass). I always try to supply the reasoning behind my decisions and
leave it to others to judge those reasons valid or not.
It is quite possible that the concept of normal as it can be and automatic, which I think
mean the same thing, might have a different take to you and that is why you question my concept
of automatic. The automatic part is that I would consider a 3c bid there to be normal every day
have to do it not dependent on feelings, day of the week or feeling hungry or sated. Automatic
essentially means the ONLY reason to not make the automatic bid is STATE OF THE MATCH where you
feel you have no hope of winning by making the totally normal (ie opposite of weird) bid.
