K clubs lead followed by the Ace clubs, East playing the 8 then the 2.

How best to play at MP?

Spoiler

Thanks,

2 rounds of spades, 2 rounds of diamonds, heart to K, diamond ruff, club ruff, draw the trump, Q and endplay E with a diamond if he had 5 ? If the jump overcall was a 5 card suit and E didn't raise with 4 I'm prepared to look silly.

Very nice, but it's not much of an endplay at trick 12. :) If East does show up with five diamonds, you've gotta guess hearts at trick twelve. How I'd do that depends on the discards.

I would play 2 trumps ending in dummy, if all followed play JH intending to run it if not covered.

OK, yes I can't count, if E has 5, I'll know when I cash AK. If clubs are 7-2, diamonds are 1-5 and trumps 2-3, then hearts are 3-3, so I'll take a straight guess who has the Q, either play as I did and drop the Q, or simply ruff the club back to hand and hook the heart leaving a trump entry to dummy.

You don't want to hook at trick 12 then have RHO cash a diamond.

Isn't diamonds 4-2 with heart options better odds than the heart finesse ?

Ok, the spoiler says that trumps are 3-2, but if they are 4-1 or 5-0, you've already been tapped once at trick 2, and once you draw a 2nd round of trumps, you have to tap yourself again if you want to ruff a diamond in dummy, setting up a long trump (or a 2nd long trump).

I have a much simpler plan in mind - ruffing 2 diamonds. So ruff the , AK, ruff with J, K, ruff with Q, ruff, draw trumps.
