Not so crazy about 5d how many different hands can you
expect to make 5d that cannot make 3n?. There are a ton
of hands where you make 3n and 5d has less than 0 play.

I would have bid 3n over the 3h bid.

I can double 2 or 3 and get as high as 4 but no higher. No negative double from pard would give me a slight chance at 4 opposite some weak hands with long spades but 5 of a minor is by far my most frequently missed game and this one isn't a favorite to make.
When a deaf person goes to court is it still called a hearing?
What is baby oil made of?

Over 2H you can bid 3H to ask for a stopper.

Over 3H I think you're endplayed into bidding 5D...

3NT has some serious trouble when the defence cash the first five hearts. :( I guess after (2H)-3H, South should not be showing a stopper having already bid 1NT on Qxx, so bids 4C, and North bids 4D or 5D depending on how keen he's feeling. Over 3H you take the punt or you don't.

Admittedly the odds on 5D are pretty poor, needing diamonds to come in plus the spade guess.

At the table it was wimp city. West picked 2H, North picked 3D, South passed. No issues making that :)

North should bid 3NT with a half-stopper. The cue should show, in my opinion, a no-stopper (thus south is advised to stay away from 3NT).
