The bidding went:
1♠ - P - 4♣* - P
4♠ - AP

Strange, opps have 10+ clubs between them and haven't mentioned them. Very odd.
So, what sort of hand might you expect from partner after this auction?… Perhaps a normal hand like ♠Kxxx ♥KJxxx ♦AJx ♣x? Maybe partner forgot we played splinters somehow or meant to bid bergen? Perhaps the opponents are meek?

Partner actually held ♠ AQJT9432 ♥ 963 ♦ 52 ♣ -! Upon tabling the hand, he said something along the lines of "You're not going to believe this." LHO kept confirming that I, in fact, opened 1♠ and RHO looked stunned. I was so shocked by having 13 spades between us that I didn't notice we both had ♠AQ, so I started playing it out. I ruffed the opening club lead in dummy and led a diamond to my king, losing to the ace on my left. I now had four top losers so the hand was unmakeable. At this point I noticed we both had the ♠AQ.

I revealed that I had ♠AQ and we called the director. The hand had been played once before, so the director asked the room at large, "Who played board 18?" before we realized we had taken two hands from board 17 and 2 hands from board 18. This made south, who was holding 3 spades to the king, very relieved to note that I hadn't psyched. North had a void and didn't see anything wrong going on until I announced what was going on.

Basically, it took the entire bidding and several tricks for anyone to notice anything wrong.

Sheesh missing AQ AQ of trumps is just... I don't think I could manage that without some good Romanian wine before the game.

I'm just as amazed that whoever else picked up the cards from a different board to dummy noticed dummy had some of their cards too.

It was even funnier because on both boards, everyone was playing in 4♠ -1 on roughly the same line (play a diamond to the king, losing to the offside ace)

Last year I was called as a TD. After playing a board they tried to put their cards back. At this moment 1 player noticed that there were already cards in his box cause he took the cards from the wrong board.
So you´re really fast to notice the problem after trick 3.

I think the TD should have a word with LHO about passing UI to partner about a possible psyche.

Don't you have alternating colours in consecutive packs? Hopefully people can see that two people have blue cards and two red.

Normally I do, but this is only the second time it's happened (other time I noticed during the bidding) so I didn't pick up on it very quickly

If they're *ever* hand-dealt, that very nice working (which the TDs spend an hour beforehand setting up) will disappear after one event. And yes, I've seen people get to "dummy down and has one of my cards" without noticing that East's backs are blue and South's green.

Pity there were so many small trumps with them. Otherwise declarer would have found himself facing the unusual dilemma of a 2-way finesse against the K.....

LHO dealt and opened a weak 2♠. I protected with 3♥ and we bid up to 5♥ with no further opposition bidding. My ♣ singleton was less useful than expected when it turned out to be facing a ♣ void in partner's hand....

My dad was irritated with me for aggressive bidding back in the day. His annoyance was most pronounced when I jump overcalled a weak 2♠ on my Jack-sixth in spades. The suit quality was not his issue. His issue was having to be Dummy with AKQ-seventh in spades.

I had the same feeling with a student when he bid 2♥ after 1♠-double-1NT on my ♥AKQxxxx, he however only had 2 hearts, double asks me to bid hearts he claimed.
