Me and my P play 2/1 and use 2S over 1NT as a transfer to both 3C and 3D. I opened 1NT with AKx Kxxx QJx Qxx a minimum 15HCP and he bid 2S. Ater my 3C he bid 4D as a slamtry. I have learned that 4NT denies interest for a slam, otherwise I cuebid a major. He took my 4NT as Blackwood and bid 5D which I passed. I thought his hand was nut suitable for NT and as he didnt cuebid 5C opponents could start with Ace and K. He said I shud go on with QJx in D so I wonder if my bidding was correct or not assuming my P knew that 4NT was a signoff.

Not sure what your question is.

I assume 4d is a slam try and you have 2 honors in D, don't you cue 4h now in your style?

I have never played this style, but you do have a great hand for diamond or club slam and would just cue if that is what you play.

agree 4nt by you should be an offer to play nt, not bw.

After 2-3 what are 3 and 3? If they are 2-suited minor hands, this is not very efficient; on a frequency basis you should use the lower bids to start slam exploration at a lower level.

if 5 is Blackwood then that's 1 Ace and your off 2 Aces unless there is a void slam not good. or maybe your playing 1430?

Hi,

if I got it right 2S is either weak with a minor or strong with a minor,
and 4D sets trumps, showing SI+.

You owe partner a cue, i.e. either 4H or 4S, depending on style, but you
should not by pass 5D on your own.
I dont think you can play 4NT as declining the invitation, because there
is no room left.
You could play 4D as above and play that the next step showes a min, 4NT
would than become the cue that you lost.
Alternative 4D is restricted Ace asking, 4H is min, 4S is the first step
response to the ace asking.

Finally: This is already deep in partnership agreement territory, i.e.
making assumptions about the follow up to 2S enquiry or after 4D is
dangerous, this needs a fixed partnership and discussion.

With kind regards

I agree with you that 3as a slamtry for and 3for are more economic bids but if you show interest in slam on the 4-level as in this case isnt it standard then to sign off with 4NT and accept with quebidding a major. By the way we are using Rkc1430 but as my 4NT was not asking I took 5D as natural without control.

It is normal, but you need agreements.
