This is most likely what prompted Comey to do what he did. It is something I've seen often in the strongly religious.

From Wiki AI:

Quote

Academic Interest: While studying chemistry and religion at the College of William and Mary, his 1982 senior thesis analyzed the relationship between Christian theology and political participation.
Moral Framework: In his memoir, A Higher Loyalty, Comey frames his career decisions around deeply held moral imperatives rather than blind political allegiance, often pointing to his faith as a cornerstone for his ethical standards.
Public Reflection: He often speaks or writes about the intersection of faith, truth, and government institutions, frequently emphasizing the need for humility and integrity.

Screwing over Hillary Clinton was God work.

Here in Oklahoma many of the Republican political ads condemn "career politicians" as the evil that's ruining the country. I got to thinking about that. Isn't that reasoning part of the problem so many can't let go of Trump? For decades, the dream of the Republican party has been to run the federal government like a business, with a CEO replacing the president. It's hard to let go what you've always believed to be superior when your fantasies turn out to be false. The goals of a government and a business are vastly different and the skills do not travel.

As for "career politicians", it's pretty simple: when you have to have an emergency surgery, which are you hoping to see right before sleep takes you and the scalpel slices you open: a "career surgeon" or the owner of a family real estate business?

Part of the problem is that he wasn't actually a very good businessman. Think of all his businesses that failed. It's not like when Ross Perot ran for president.

He was also a pretty crooked businessman. When he did succeed, it was often by stiffing suppliers and contractors.

There's certainly a conundrum there. You want people who are experienced, but you don't want people whose priority is keeping the job rather than doing the job well.

In the real world, if you don't do your job well you usually get fired. That's not the case in politics, where keeping your job is often more dependent on things like personality and money. You just have to convince people that they don't want to elect your opponent.

And you can lie your ass off when campaigning.

Yes, what I'm really speaking of is the simplicity of the messaging, how the Big Lie about 2024 keeps the troops in line, and claiming "career politicians" are evil simply because they chose politics as a career.

Another 60 days of BS - they all keep living their comfortable lives and trading while most of the world suffers and waits to start living again
And all this to try and save face
But America first. Nobody else in the world is worth a dime
What surprises me is all these boasts about how many wars have been stopped. They could add another one
And all these wonderful minerals deals they have struck. Meanwhile there is s serious Ebola outbreak and not enough resources to help
But go USA - access to those rare earths once they have buried all their dead and ended this pandemic
And apparently even the last spokesperson I saw talking about the 60 days ceasefire extension said he could not really say much because nobody can second guess the president - sad that he is not part of the inner circle
I don't really care about what kind of businessman he was and where the family wealth came from
But if someone else is pulling the USA's strings maybe now could be a good time to tell us, and how they are doing it
If we knew maybe we would understand. Proud country MAGA and all that but seems like strings are being pulled

But as I have said earlier in this thread, and it may seem trivial to most, but it is a disgrace that FIFA did not remove the World Cup from the USA last year. And I know it sounds trivial but what kind of country ruins the chance of any fans being able to watch and will arrest and deport any who show up. A country that does not understand football and never should have been awarded it in the first place. Some things actually are bigger than money and how much you can make .Assuming any POC get in the country without quarantine or deportation or arrest as possible terrorists - did I leave any parts of the world out - oh yes they cannot afford to travel. But America First

Serious problems here these days for sure. Even the seashells agree, but it's dangerous to point that out.
The growth of wisdom may be gauged exactly by the diminution of ill temper. — Friedrich Nietzsche
The infliction of cruelty with a good conscience is a delight to moralists — that is why they invented hell. — Bertrand Russell
