I found this hand difficult to find a good lead. What's your choice and what's your reasoning? Any difference between MP and imp scoring?

eh, I guess I'll try a club. If partner has them, great. If not, then chances are decent that I have not given anything away.

Unfortunately I will probably have to lead from this hand a couple more times, and I'm not really looking forward to it. Unless of course that club works out!

I'm thinking about the queen of diamonds. Chances are that is partner's suit (if he has one), and I do not really like leading away from the kings. Tough descision!

Either minor looks plausible. Slightly lead towards the Q, since if declarer has AK he might play to drop it anyway.

yes i'd go for the q of d. there's nothing more joyous than dummy coming down with ktxx opposite ax and declarer finesses on the 2nd round and gets cut off from dummy.

Just because you don't like to underlead kings you shouldn't make suicide leads instead. Doubleton queen is one of the worse leads, probably the worse lead from a single honnor.

I would lead a club myself, the spade holding asks for passivity.

agree Q is not on my radar.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

I hate the Q lead so much, I'd rather lead 8. But a low club just looks normal to me. Less likely to cost than a diamond, and more likely to set up tricks. (Even if we do set up diamond tricks, partner may have no entry to take them.)

Free asks "I found this hand difficult to find a good lead. What's your choice and what's your reasoning? Any difference between MP and imp scoring?"

It's hard to guess what to do. As Cherdano says, given your strength, it's unlikely that partner can run his suit, even if you set it up. So I rank ...
1. 2. Hope partner has a honor.
2. Q. Might be better at MPs.
3. 5. Could work if partner has 6 or 7 of them.
4. 2.

I would lead a heart, surprised it is so hated here. K432 is unlikely to cost a trick and we are leading through the length which is good. Could not agree more with fluffys comment though. I see a heart and a club as the only options fwiw

Reading PhamtomSac's reply made me reconsider a heart lead and I just found a psicological aspect I found interesting.

Since we know dummy has 4 hearts it is easy for me to picture full scenarios, some of them very ugly.

In my mind the club just leads into a big (?) cloud becaus eI have no idea, and I lack of info to generate samples. That's why I like clubs more.

Thank you both PhantomSac and Fluffy for the comments about the Q lead.
