I rank
  • 3 = NAT. Shows you have real s and a little bit extra.
  • 3 = NAT. Down the middle.
  • Pass = NAT. Your K is more useful in defence.
  • 3 = ASK for stop. Gross overbid.
  • 2N = NAT. Gross overbid without a real stop.
  • Double = T/O? But IMO, it should be penalty.

Love the responses thus far :)

Suppose you (actually me) bid 3C. lefty GIBBO bids 4H and as you would expect your pard GIBBO - yes you guessed it - doubles. righty Human passes. Your bid?

Your hand (under the doubler, let's not forget that) is better than minimum but still minimum with partner raising s over the X, and my personal view is your only bid on the 2nd round, agreeing with other commentators, should have been 3 only.

You've dug yourself a right hole bidding 3, in my opinion, and vulnerable vs. not vulnerable do you want to be at the 5 level? With GIBBO as the doubler and bidder of 4, you might get away with 5 undoubled but I seriously doubt it. I'll pass now and prepare to re-mortgage.

3 should either be extra values as wank said (which you don't have) so would welcome double.
Or big distribution and can now bid 5.

Knowing Gib's method 3 probably shows 11-21 and was of virtually no help for future bidding except for possible club fit.

Thanks all for your responses. 100% my fault for bidding 3C. The moment I bid it and LHO GIBBO jumped to 4H I knew he had AQ of clubs :) and had started to kick myself. And more kicking after MyGIBBO doubled. Why in tarnation GIBBO assumes if pd has 16-21 "points" it is always 21 "points" is beyond me. Still 200% my fault. Here is the hand in all its glory, Oh! the bad thought did cross my mind when GIBBO bid 2D that it could be sitting with 6 C or something. Still wrong!!!!!

Kudos to those who recommended pass. Secondary kudos to those who bid 3D
