Typically imbecilic lead by the typically hopeless GIBBO robot sitting West:

He and his equally worthless partner East are silent during the auction. His RHO South opens 1NT in third seat. Passed hand North bids 2C Stayman. South bids 2D. North bids 2NT, described by GIB as "Invite to 3NT, may not have four-card major,...". South accepts by bidding 3NT. All pass.

Superjerk West is on lead with AKQ86, K1062, 87, 74. He PROUDLY tables as his opening lead: the 2 of hearts.

He is later ASTONISHED to discover that a high spade actually would have worked out better.

As I've previously written, these goofs must eat bowls and bowls of stupidity pills for breakfast each and every morning.

Thanks to a VERY favourable lead AND a favourable layout, 6NT scored twelve tricks for a shared top...but that does NOT mean that that the braindead GIBBO robot bid the hand well. He bid it the way he usually does: POORLY.

His earlier 1NT bid (his third call of the auction) had shown, according to the GIB definition, "11-14 HCP". Over that, his partner South had bid 4NT, "Quantitative invite to 6NT", as per the GIB definition.

North had a mere 12 HCP in a 3-4-2-4 hand, so he was clearly at the LOWER end of his range, and he also had no particular source of tricks, so of COURSE he LEAPT to 6NT. What, pray tell, would he ever REFUSE an invitation with, if not this?

In fairness, it must be pointed out that the typically pathetic GIB definition of 4NT very stupidly stated that South's 4NT call showed "20-21 HCP" and South had "only" 18, but WHY should 4NT show at least 20 when North could have as many as FOURTEEN? The human South ignored the silly GIB definition, as he periodically does, because - not being a ROBOT - he feels no obligation to follow the unworkable, antiquated GIBBO system in instances where it makes absolutely no sense.

We got to a reasonable contract of 3NT and obtained a decent score (even though 6D can be made), but when a GIBBO robot is involved, EVEN if you get to a reasonable spot, it's often in an ABNORMAL way. Here, for example, North's 4-0-5-4 shape doesn't exactly scream "NO TRUMP!" Why doesn't the dreg just bid out his hand NORMALLY by saying 3C over South's 2C?

North knows he wants to play in 4H, nowhere else. He could and should therefore simply BID 4H over South's 1NT. Instead, clueless, foolish GIBBO robot that he is, he stupidly bids 2C NMF for absolutely no reason. Here he was LUCKY that his woeful ignorance didn't cost, but sometimes this type of stupidity WILL cost. For example, it can give EW opportunities for lead-directing doubles that they could otherwise not make. Furthermore, if EW do NOT make lead-directing doubles (in this case, for example, of clubs or diamonds), the very ABSENCE of such a double might provide the defenders a valuable clue to NOT lead the suit that might have been doubled.

The GIBBO robots absolutely ROT in obvious situations, but they also ROT in more "subtle" ones.

Their gross incompetence at ALL facets of bridge often costs them, but quite often they luck out on hands where they do something enormously stupid but escape a well-deserved disaster through nothing but dumb luck...and when speaking of the hideous GIBBO robots, the word "dumb" is quite appropriate. They reek.

The auction up to and including South's 2H bid is normal, and then we enter the GIBBO Bizarro World of madness.

West, with a perfectly normal 3C bid, instead bids 2NT. WHY, pray tell? This ludicrous bid receives a typically inadequate GIB definition: "11-13 HCP; stop in hearts". Yeah. So what? Who CARES? His partner East is a hand that PASSED as dealer.

Now North proves that he very much BELONGS in the GIBBO community, as he bids three...CLUBS. Not three DIAMONDS, which in a SANE universe would make sense, but three ludicrous CLUBS. Oh, but don't you know that three CLUBS means something SPECIAL to the denizens of the GIBBO Bizarro World? They play QUITE a system, you know.

Let's see what 3C means in their FABULOUS (joke of a) "system". Here's the GIB definition, and it's as pathetic as expected. We'll examine it piece by ridiculous piece:

"Limit major raise." Limit major raise???!!! The clown earlier RESPONDED 1H to his partner's 1D opening bid. This is not a "limit major raise". In a NORMAL world, depending on partnership agreements, it would be asking and/or telling about clubs and/or hearts. It would not be some nonsense about a limit raise in the suit HE bid.

"5+ hearts"> REALLY? Then, Mr. GIB, please explain why he has ONLY four hearts - the not-exactly-solid 9875!

"10-12 total points". Really? HERE is his hand: J1054, 9875, KQJ10, 9.

East passes. South bids 3H. West passes (making CERTAIN never to let East know that he has club support that he oh-so-brilliantly kept a SECRET when he earlier bid his *****ous 2NT). North passes. and East decides to bid spades - for the FIRST time - at the THREE level.

South passes. West is probably broken-hearted at having to actually support CLUBS...FINALLY...as he converts to 4C, which becomes the final contract.

South, naively thinking that his "partner" North might actually have a hand that SOMEWHAT resembles his bidding, makes what LOOKS like a normal lead of the heart queen.

Unfortunately for North-South, after this lead, the hand is cold for eleven tricks for East-West. Declarer can win a high heart in dummy, play to one of the two black aces in his hand, take the MARKED heart finesse for South's jack, and cash the other high heart, pitching his stiff losing diamond. He will lose only one spade and the offside king of clubs. BUT...where there's life there's HOPE (as BOB used to say!), because declarer East is a GIBBO robot (!), so...

FORTUNATELY for North-South, the ignorant piece of dirt TOTALLY butchers the declarer play. The incompetent little loser wins dummy's heart ace at trick one. (Nice play.) At trick two, he plays a club to his ace, even though a SPADE to his ace would be wiser, because it would allow him to later safely take a club hook. Although the club hook loses on THIS random hand, it will WIN on some OTHER random hands. So, East's club (rather than spade) play did not cost him HERE...but ONLY because he was lucky. At trick three, he plays his second and last heart towards dummy's remaining K10. I often criticize these disgusting, worthless rejects, these pieces of trash, but it looks like he's actually about to play this correctly. Ah, no! So close and yet so far! INSTEAD of taking the MARKED finesse for South's jack, inserting and WINNING dummy's 10, and then cashing dummy's king to pitch his diamond loser, the INCOMPARABLY stupid GIBBO "declarer" plays dummy's KING...and then COMICALLY plays dummy's last heart, the 10 (that he COULD have and SHOULD have won at trick three) and...NOW pitches his diamond loser. He gains NOTHING. All he has done is (needlessly) lost a heart instead of a diamond.

This was an abominable example of declarer play. We see garbage from these incompetent rejects on a regular, ongoing basis, which makes sense, since they and their pathetic GIB predecessors are by FAR the worst "bridge players" that I have EVER encountered...But...they are SUPPOSED TO BE at least a LITTLE bit competent at declarer play. It is SUPPOSED to be the best part of their game and, to be fair, it probably is - but that does NOT mean that they are GOOD at declaring, because as this hand proves, they most definitely are not. They are worthless and useless, and the world of bridge will be a much better place when they are PURGED from it. They rot!

Typically stupid lead by the typically ignorant and illogical GIBBO robot in the East. Given the choice between leading a heart from J543 or a diamond from J7 doubleton, the clueless reject of COURSE opts for the diamond (thereby giving away the entire suit and "earning" himself a tie for a well-deserved bottom). Please send these hopeless losers to a landfill. They are an embarrassment to the game.

I've said this before: I think that the way GIBBO uses Stayman and transfers is inferior. I think it's better not to require high-card minimums for the use of Stayman. I think hands such as North's would be better served by Stayman than by a transfer. Yes, I realize that many human players would agree with GIBBO and disagree with me on this issue.

East, to no one's surprise, makes yet another foolish lead and "earns" himself yet another tie for a well-deserved bottom - the story of his train wreck of a "life" in bridge. It would be an act of mercy to these abominable robots to permanently remove them from a game where they repeatedly humiliate themselves by exposing their huge shortcomings as "bridge players" - the absolutely WORST "bridge players" I have ever personally encountered.

First chance he gets (at trick three) East pitches a spade - thereby already establishing an "impossible" THIRD spade trick for me. Thank you, as always, Mr. GIBBO robot "defender" for your usual GENEROSITY in "defending". I just wish you would not be so GENEROUS when you "defend" as my "partner".

Like all GIBBO robots, this trout is a FABULOUS "opponent" but a truly disgusting "partner".

Okay, fair enough, West has a dilemma about what to lead, so we can certainly forgive his choice of a heart.

But when South wins the heart at trick one...and immediately fires back a heart at trick two (!)...why on Earth would West win and immediately play ANOTHER heart?

South opened one CLUB. South rebid two CLUBS. North has decent CLUBS himself with his Q104 of CLUBS. North himself even later competed by bidding three CLUBS.

SO...when North ends up on lead against West's 3S, North would rather cut off all his robotic LIMBS rather than even THINK of leading a CLUB of all things. HE'S a GIBBO robot, and they absolutely HATE to lead THEIR suits.

Consequently, he blindly and for no apparent reason, leads the 5 of diamonds from his worthless little 54 doubleton.

He lucks out, as this does not cost and it works out fine. The GIBBO robots (along with their hopeless GIB predecessors) are among the worst - by FAR - "bridge players" who ever existed, but they DO tend to be amazingly lucky, as many of their boneheaded plays escape the punishment they so richly deserve.

Anyway, South wins trick one, cashes a second high diamond at trick two, and at trick three plays his TWO of diamonds from his remaining 62 doubleton. This is, of course, a suit preference signal, asking his "partner" North to return a CLUB after ruffing the diamond at trick three. South is pleased that he was born with the DEUCE of diamonds, because - even to a typically execrable GIBBO robot like the cast-iron stooge in the North, the DEUCE is OBVIOUSLY asking for a CLUB.

North ruffs the diamond at trick three and then plays a ...HEART (!!!!!)...because why would a GIBBO robot!) EVER want to play a CLUB - the suit his partner opened in, the suit his partner rebid, the suit he himself (North) has two honours in, the suit he himself (North) competed in at the three level, and the suit his partner South just BEGGED him to play when he returned the suit-preference TWO of diamonds?

Yes, why would a hopeless, disgusting, ignorant, useless, worthless piece of TRASH like a GIBBO robot EVER want to return a CLUB at this point?

So, the piece of slime plays a heart, but not just ANY heart. Oh, no - HE'S a GIBBO robot, so HE plays ythe QUEEN of hearts from...AQJ106! WHY does he even WANT to led a HEART from THIS holding? It shows the MASSIVE extent to which he will go to lead ANYTHING other than a CLUB! These yokels are not just pathetic - from all appearances, they might also be deranged.

We STILL beat the contract three tricks for a decent score of 64.3 % on the board, although we could and should have beaten it FOUR, had North played a...CLUB at trick four. But that's not the issue. Whether we happened to score zero on the board, 100 on the board, or anything in between on the board, the issue is that the GIBBO robots, as evidenced here, are absolute M.O.R.O.N.S. who have no business whatsoever to EVER be in ANY bridge game ANYWHERE at ANY time. They are utter garbage and belong in a mound of trash to be either dumped in a landfill or incinerated.

I believe decent robots DO exist, so why must BBO users and customers be burdened with the hopeless GIBBO ones?

We have 13 tricks in NT. We of course took them all but we were only in 3NT. We were therefore quite lucky to score 60.7 % on the board. I obviously bid it very cautiously and conservatively. Rightly or wrongly, these were my reasons: One: The BIGGEST one: I never trust my GIBBO robot "partner". Two: The robots are all-around rotten bridge players and hopeless bidders, but they tend to OVERbid rather than underbid. Three. Rightly or wrongly, my impression is that BBO often serves up layouts that are unfavourable, with a plethora of bad breaks and hooks that seem to lose much more often than in "real" F2F bridge, so while I tend to bid aggressively in "real" bridge, I tend to bid conservatively when playing with and against the repulsive GIBBO robots on BBO. Four: I figured that if I bid a slam that failed, I would definitely get a bad score, whereas even if I missed a slam that made, I might still get around average or possibly even slightly higher (which actually turned out to be what happened on this board). Five: Finally, on North's bidding, we appeared to have NO fit, so even if we had a lot of high cards, we might have had trouble establishing "lower" cards in our suits, due to having no help there from partner.

Numbers One and Five above are why this particular post exists. First, North's bidding shows EXACTLY why I wrote (in "One") "I never trust my GIBBO robot 'partner'". Second, his bidding also shows EXACTLY why in "Five" I wrote "...we APPEARED to have no fit..."

North's hand was AKQJ94, Q, K1082, 63. In our completely uninterrupted auction, he opened 1S. I bid 2H. He bid 3D. I bid 3H. Then he...bid... three...NO TRUMP! That's not a typo! The incomparable nincompoop bid three NO TRUMP (!) with a "stopper" in CLUBS, the UNBID suit, of...SIX-THREE DOUBLETON!

And it's not as if he had no good bid! You know, I think he might have safely been able to bid 3S on...AKQJ94!!! Besides 3NT being a PHENOMENALLY stupid (but sadly TYPICAL) lunacy for these absolute zeroes, it didn't even match the clueless fool's own GIB definition of "4+ diamonds; 4- hearts; 5-6 spades; 20- HCP; 16-22 total points; likely stop in clubs". Furthermore, the GIB definition itself is, as is so often the case, pathetic. First: "LIKELY stop in clubs"? Why "likely"? Surely it should BE a REAL stop, not a "likely" one...and SIX-THREE DOUBLETON doesn't even come CLOSE to "likely". Second: "4- hearts". FOUR minus???!!! He could have as many as FOUR hearts???? With FOUR hearts, might he not have...SUPPORTED hearts at some point (!)...after I bid a two-over-one game forcing 2H and then...REBID THREE hearts? These GIB definitions stink worse than the garbage bins outside the fish store during a lengthy strike by sanitation workers!

Any way you slice it, I'm off at LEAST four tricks: two spades (trump), one heart, and one diamond - at LEAST.

But against these GIB jabronis, I made...TEN tricks...while THEY added yet ANOTHER complete zero to their HUMONGOUS lifetime collection of total failure. They stink at bridge. They'd make excellent scarecrows.

West begins by wasting his heart queen, when the lead of a low one would be more logical...but don't EVER expect logic from a GIBBO robot.

At trick five, West compounds his earlier silly lead by playing ANOTHER heart, effectively, through the combination of his two typically ill-judged heart choices at tricks one and five, DESTROYING his natural, "guaranteed" heart winner. East feels that he MUST ruff this with his NATURAL trump trick (since he still holds KJ dub of spades and his partner West earlier won the queen). The two rubes have managed to COMPRESS their three natural and "guaranteed" major suit winners into only two.

Imbecilic JUMP to FOUR clubs by the repulsive GIBBO robot in the North. As is SO often the case (perhaps I should actually be writing "As is USUALLY the case"?), the piece of trash ignores his own GIB definition, which is "4+ clubs; 8+ HCP; 8- total points", since the irredeemable fool has a mere FIVE (!) HCP...including two JACKS. One JACK is a doubleton in a suit that BOTH opponents have shown, so it is almost certainly worthless - like the all GIBBO robots themselves. And the OTHER jack, despite being in clubs, is likely not pulling ITS full weight either (if you can count one lousy high-card point as "weight") since it's probably unnecessary due to the combined NS length in clubs.

Moreover, the GIB definition is (sigh, not AGAIN!) an INCORRECT piece of nonsense. As I have stated many times, HCP can be less than or equal to "total" points, but they CANNOT be more, since "total" points are arrived at by ADDING any pertinent and applicable points for distribution to the EXISTING BASE of HCP. Yet this piece of bilge masquerading as a definition can't even get THAT simple and obvious issue correct, as it ridiculously claims that 4C shows at LEAST 8 HCP and theoretically as many as 37, since the lazy, sloppy statement of "8+" literally means at least 8, with NO upper limit. But then, the SAME definition claims that 4C shows "8- total points", which literally means zero to eight. As is sadly OFTEN the case, the pathetic GIB definition even gets this simple FACT completely backwards.

GIBBO robots are garbage. The GIBBO system is garbage. GIB definitions are garbage. GARBAGE belongs in a dump, a landfill, or an incinerator...not on an otherwise excellent, popular, useful, enjoyable, and rewarding bridge site.

Why is the ignorant GIBBO clown in the West leading the 9 of CLUBS from his worthless 96 doubleton despite KNOWING that CLUBS is dummy North's second suit? Has some enemy agent pumped STUPIDITY GAS into the ventilation systems and drinking water of the GIBBO robots?

GIBBO's 2C system is atrocious. North's auction here is a ridiculous joke. No surprise in either case.

Fortunately, the blinkered GIBBO robot in the East made the stupidest of all possible leads: His stiff 4 of spades. No surprise there either. With GIBBO robots, it ALWAYS makes sense to expect a hopeless, antiquated, unworkable, illogical system...with pathetic and often laughably incorrect definitions...followed by bottom-of-the -barrel bidding, leads, and "defence". When you start with garbage, you not surprisingly end with garbage.

Thanks to the ignorant GIBBO twit in the East and his fantastically stupid lead, we made an overtrick in our hopeless and ludicrous 6NT contract, scoring 87.50 % on the board. Had East led a diamond, my guess is that we might not have scored QUITE as well, since...we would have been DOWN FOUR on the fly!

But "brilliant" jump to 6NT, Mr. North! Why BOTHER using all your available bidding room, and why BOTHER playing a DECENT 2C system when you can UNILATERALLY make a STUPID jump to 6NT? And "brilliant" lead of a SPADE, Mr. East. I guess it was a SHOCKING surprise to you that South had...good SPADES...after he opened 2C, bid three SPADES over North's (foolish) 3C, and then bid four...SPADES over North's (imbecilic) 3NT.

Another "Hearts-Style Challenge", where unbeknownst to the GIBBO robots I am trying to LOSE as many tricks as possible. They are trying their best to WIN as many tricks as possible, but as usual they show how HOPELESSLY bad they are. They totally rot.

Check out what happens at trick five. You will see an example of why I have repeatedly said that they (along with their GIB predecessors) are by FAR the worst "bridge players" I have EVER encountered and why I have NEVER seen even a single human player as disgustingly incompetent as these GIBBO pieces of garbage.

Regardless of the result on this random hand (which was 67.9 % for NS and 32.1 & for EW), why is the simp in the East seat bidding his mere FIVE-card suit THREE (!) times including at the FOUR level?
