I played yesterday online. I have been a member of BBO for many years and paid a lot to play. I was playing in a social game with a random partner. a player came on and started lambasting his partner about his bid. When we asked him just to play the hand he got abusive. I can'tgo into the whole thing but he continued to call us both derogatory terms many times and even messaged me privately saying the same thing. We both reported him. I also sent an email to BBO with a copy oy the exchange. BBO have emailed me back with a response which is totally ineffective and at present he is still on BBO.

It is sad when the company of GIBBO becomes more attractive

The table host could kick that loser off the table. And you can block messages from anybody you choose. BBO has a long reputation for being slow to being glacially slow to toss miscreants off the platform.

This thread could be moved to the WC and we could start a discussion on the global decline of Moral Standards.

Rather than making light I think people in Bridge clubs and Bridge table, including this site, could learn decent behaviour or encourage it
I always find it interesting those who try to avoid the issue of the obnoxious culture many experience at Bridge tables
The world had not yet plummeted to it's current depths when I first experienced the most obnoxious behaviour in a Bridge club
There was still a semblance of civility in many parts of the world and life. Maybe some people have always been used to those low standards - or were so sheltered from the civilised world they never learned to expect better
What always amuses me is the contradiction between a sport/game with so many pedantic little rules and etiquette and such obnoxious personal behavior at tables
Maybe it is not a contradiction
Maybe I was the sheltered one. Some little backwater of civility
I still have one of the best and worst experiences in my life sitting round a Bridge table. So maybe other civilised people and cultures are still out there
It does get back to your point about the state of the world

Come on John. This is a cultural issue, not a specific host
Many years ago (with apologies to North Americans) someone quipped that rugby was a game for thugs played by gentleman, and cricket was a game for gentlemen played by thugs
Not sure where Bridge fits

I think you may have misunderstood my reply. If you had read my numerous posts regarding conduct at clubs you would know I do not make light of this. BBO is of course many times worse than what you'll find at any club.
