Would someone kindly decipher the info contained in the hand charts frequently provided at later sessions of events. Obviously, I understand the hands, dealer and vul notifications, but the square in the lower right corner and the diamond of numbers in the lower left remain a mystery to this newbie.

Sample here: http://www.dealmaster.com/handchrt.gif

Thanks.

Those appear to be the makeable contacts (on a double dummy basis).

The box in the lower right says which contracts can be made double dummy (often suit contracts with less than a 7 card fit are omitted). The diamond on the bottom left dispays the HCP each hand had.

I believe the condition for a number to appear is to be able to make more than 6 tricks in the given denomination.

There's another dealing program that one of our local clubs uses, and instead of listing the odd tricks that can be made in each denomination, it lists the total tricks for each, even if it's less than book. I find that table confusing, although I suppose it's more useful when you go down a bunch and want to see if you theoretically could have gone down less.
