Yeah, if we don't double on these hands (this is a good minimum) we can never get them for penalties, as partner has to bid 3NT instead of pass.

My standard answer to your question (see topic title) would be: "Let me sleep on it. Baby baby..." But since you might counter with: "I wanna know right now!", I will give you the answer now:

;)

Yes, but I am not as convinced as some others.

Double, but those that think this is automatic are blind to the dangers.

Double seems automatic to me.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

IMO at either form of scoring, _X = 10, _P = 8.

I know there are dangers, and RHO might have the goods instead of partner. Doesn't make it any less automatic though!

Do your scores mean you think this is close?

Eager to double MP NV.

Would still do it, if IMP or if both vul.

I would probably let it go unfavorable at imps, since we aren't going to be finding many big games here.

Yes. Moreover, I think it depends on partnership style.

I was just curious. This to me would be a x, however I can understand those that pass. Played with a pick up a couple of days ago who was quite abusive after I doubled. Funnily enough, he bid 3NT on a hand with JTxx xx Kxx Kxxx, where I would have bid a simple 3S.

Some styles are clearly dominant over other styles. A style where you pass 13 counts in first seat for instance, is a bad style. A style where you cannot X here is similar.

My opponents 3D too eagerly. So I double. Partner judges well.
My partner negX for 3-level is likable 10. I encourage 3S if 7-ish. Double.
Yup, can be trapped by 3D's partner. Still double.

My take here is
PASS if partner loses discipline and
gets overboard on these auctions.
PASS if negX would have been made on much less.
Little to gain if partner has 5.
PASS if partner defends with an offensive hand.
Close decisions can go wrong, not clear ones.

Double. Those that think that double is not automatic probably haven't thought about it a lot.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
