I experienced the following sequence with the wonderful GIB yesterday during a bingo match.

I opened 2NT.

GIB: 3C

Me: 3D

Gib: 4D

????

The GIB had 5 diamonds and 5 hearts, but still, I'm pretty sure that's a bug. I only had 2 diamonds in hand and we lost a part-score contract that easily could have gone 3nt.

Lol, lesson learned, never misdescribe a hand, because the admin has access to the DB.

So you don't think it's a bug? If my p IRL ever did that I think I would call the cops.

Most RL players would bid 3NT, and go down when the opps roll off the first 5 spades, but it's kind of unlucky that the 2NT bidder's spades are so poor -- they could be AQx.

The problem wasn't the 4{DI] bid, but pulling 5 to 5. But the description of 5 doesn't say that it shows a real suit.

All fair points.

Probably I woulda opened 2c IRL, anyway, but this is bingo... I'm sure I had my reasons.

Okay, I withdraw the accusation of software failure.

2 with a balanced 20 count? And even if you did, the auction would have started 2-2-2NT, and the rest of the auction would probably be been the same (unless the bot decides that the stronger opening means that it should go to slam).

Somehow last night I managed to count an extra 3. Hope springs eternal, I suppose...

My excuse is that I was sick, tired, and hopped up on prescription cough syrup.
