Imp pairs, all white:

---
AQ
98732
Q98743

Pa-(Pa)-Pa-(1)
???

Would you bid here or not? 2NT? 4(3 would show spades and clubs)? 4NT?

Between 4 and 4NT what's better and worse and why?

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

2N, we could be cold for a game/have a good save etc etc. All white with a spade void when partner couldn't open in third seat makes me feel somewhat safe, they probably have a spade fit and maybe also a heart fit. Ofc I could go for a number still but it seems worth the risk.

If you are too scared to bid 2N I feel like you should at least bid 1N. Side note: I think you should play raptor in this auction as opposed to 1N for the minors.

I don't think you will if opp now bids 3D showing H support and S. I think you have just helped the opps.

I have never seen the observation that the opponents must have a big spade fit being used as an argument for passing. You can accuse the Hog of many things, but you can't blame him for being unimaginative.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I would show minors whatever that is in the system 1 or 2NT.

But why is everyone so concerned about suit ? It is usually a matter of to open or not when u are short in boss suit, but here they already opened. I do not understand the wish to bury their fit either. Why would i wanna bury their 4-4 fit ? I have great defense in contracts combined with pd's trump stack. I would bid 2NT for the reasons Justin explained, not for any reason about preventing their fit.
