3♠ for me.
From my side of the table, I am playable in 4♠ opposite a small stiff, so I don't mind pretending that I have six spades.
From partner's side of the table, 3♦ has a lot of possible meanings. Maybe he has nothing useful in diamonds and is fishing for direction. Maybe he has slam interest in hearts. Maybe he has slam interest in clubs. Maybe he actually has a diamond-club two-suiter. I just don't know yet.
The problem with 4♣ now, IMO, is that it puts a lot of pressure on partner to come up with a 4♠ call when the focus is in that direction. If partner's next call is 3NT, I can bid 4♣ now, and it seems better to me.
3♠ might cause partner some problems pursuing a club slam, but hopefully my comntinuation after his shrugged-shoulders 3NT will re-enthuse him when that's going on.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."
