I would open it 2NT. But I believe in MisIry.

Anyone thinking they are going to open 2 and get to rebid 2 over kokish doesn't understand the probability of an opponent having a buncho black cards and getting into the auction. The MisIry 2nt will allow me show my two suits and the approximate playing stregth at my next turn to bid, regardless of the level of competition (oh, ok, over 7 or something silly like that, I will not be able... :) )

I would establish as trump after a strong 2 bid, bid an ace-asking sequence and whatever response I get I can bid 6 meaning "bid grand slam with 3rd round diamond control."

I'm not sure what purpose this comment serves. Yes, often when we have a very distributional hand with a spade void, we might have a problem later. But sometimes we don't, and, other than a pet gadget that looks like it gives up a lot on other hands, we don't have any other choice anyway. We can open 1H but that seems kinda silly on the hands where the opponents don't give us a problem.

But whatever, if they bid something I can cuebid.

Partner has

xx
-
Qxx
ATxxxxxx

Declarer
AQJTxxx
x
xxxx
J

This is just my memory.

I opened 6H and LHO bid 6S. We only got 200 because my partner didn't understand my first round discard of the dA. Anyway this hand was rigged cos the next hand (dealt by the same jokers) I had 7-5. We got a much worse result on that one and only out of my fault, so why post about it?

What is the frequency of occurrence of hand patterns meeting MisIry requirements?

Let me start by saying I accidently upvoted your post when I went to reply. Didn't mean to do that. MisIry is an opening bid of 2nt, 3, or 3 or 3 to show either a weak preempt in the next higher suit (for instance clubs over 2nt, or spades over 3), or a strong two suiter that includes the suit opened, and one of the suits that is not suit you would have if you are weak. Therefore the frequency is higher than a normal three level preempt, because it includes all those hands, and then hands with 5-5 or better in two suits that meet an minimum requirement (number of losers, number of controls). In my experience, the strong variation occurs about 1/4 to 1/3 as frequently as the weak variation, depending upon how light you preempt precisely at the three level -- unless you play in goulash events, in which case the frequency of these hands is very high.

I do miss not being able to open a strong 2nt, and have to distort some other auctions to compensate for this problem. In my case this is really complicated, because for me, 2-2-2NT is not natural either. If you are interested, Misiry is documented on my bidding system blog online (look for inquiry2over1). There is also a detailed pdf attached to one of my post in this forum so that anyone can check how misiry would handle such hands as the ones in this thread, or check me when I show a magic auction that gets to some perfect contract.
