Norths bid is ridiculous, which is easy to overlook given how the south pass is the most ridiculous action ever.

Playing partners system, agreed 2 shows 44+ majors.

I've seen people pass my michael cue bid b/c he has 5 little cards in that suit. Nothing surprise for something like this on BBO if you're playing random partner.

Is there someplace you think is better to play? ;)

I would have bid 2 only because I can be sure of a minimum 7-card fit. Playing in 2 opposite a void is probably going to be the end of this partnership but luckily it wasn't so.

But then again, there's no winning action over 2 since no fit really exists.

Even if every finesse in sight works, there are 6 losers.

If 2D can include 4-4, it certainly requires a better hand than what north has

i would call going -50 when the opponents almost certainly have +90 a winning action, but as justin said, both N and S were ridiculous.

If this hand is within the agreement for 2, then I can live with it white on red. Pass ... hahah. Maybe we should should have a thread just for LOL actions by BBO experts. Er wait, maybe this can be that thread! It's not even entirely a hijack.

An auction I see a lot on BBO and rarely face to face is:

p - 1m - p - 1M
2m/M

Let's see, he can't open the bidding at the one level or preempt, but after both opponents bid and partner passes, now he is good enough to jump in with a 2-level overcall, regardless of vulnerability. Usually he holds a five card suit here, a crummy one about half the time.

Hi,

2D - not everybody cup of coffee, but I would make the bid.

Playing against a weak NT, you try to fight for the partial.

But not many agree with this view.

Pass is not an option, North could be stronger, and the cards
South happens to hold in the majors may all North needs for game.

The pass of 2 on xxxxx with KT in one major and xxx in the other is beyond absurd.

As for the 2 bid showing majors, all I can say is that the bidder had the majors.

I've always hated showing a 4-4 over a strong NT in the direct seat, although I did it a few times in Seattle in the balance and it worked out well.

I don't play 4-4 with any of my regular partners, although perhaps we could play 5-4+ direct seat, 4-4 balancing seat.
It is the pass that baffled me, partner insisted it was normal playing a 4-4 style.

I actually meant to say "minimum of" 6 losers, and there are very likely will be more than that. 6 requires KQ with LHO, J with RHO, and diamonds 3-3; or, a misdefense (getting A knocked out early before heart tricks are established). Somewhere around 10% without help from the defenders.

I remain mystified by how often I see this. Some of it is due to the fact that in "average" BBO play, bad overcalls are rarely punished. LOL a few weeks ago, after P-1-P-1by me and then 2 by LHO I passed PD's supX with a flat 13 count, noting that LHO could never stay out of our auctions and we took them for 1400 with no slam possible. LHO had QT8xx in and 8 other scattered HCP and they were Red to our White.
