Your call, and why?

4H. Slam unlikely, highly likely to be the best spot, may give the opposition real trouble. If they bid over you you are extremely likely to be going positive on a board where 4H couldnt make.

I bid 1♥. I see no reason to blast any higher level, as the opps have failed to bid spades, so likely don't have a fit to outbid my suit. I don't want to double.

4 ♥ is throwing a bomb and it quite likely that the explosion will hurt the opponents more then you.
1♥ is right on values- it could still be a partscore battle.
I guess I choose the low road this time, but with Kxx, AKJxxxx,xx,A I had surely tried 4 ♥.

I bid/overbid 4♥ but it didn't stop west from finding their game.

Hi,
this is mainly a tactical question.
Except for 2H, I can live with any heart overcall, 1H, 3H and 4H.
I prefer 1H, but 3H, and to a lesser degree 4H are also reasonable.

West got lucky, sometimes the best fit for E/W is diamonds.
And Wests bidding showed, that they dont have the agreement, that 4NT over 4H showed the
given West hand. The preempt was well timed, and could have hurt them, but West reacted well.
The question is, why did your partner not raise 4H to 5H? He has two tricks for you?
The main problem with 4H is, that it suggest a sacrifice, and my hand is too strong
for such a message, and not strong enough to have a reasonable shot at game, if happen
to hit gold.
