back at Bridge Week in Pasadena, I believe your from the area, we had this happen several times back in the early eighties, people doubling with lousy
club holdings over stayman, after looking at what was happening, we sat for the next 3 that week and played them redoubled making....granted this was matchpoints.
partner still has some say in this say if he were 4441 or 4351 no values....but alot of times you can scramble to 8 tricks on just your high cards.
