What's you biggest horror story as a director? At yesterday's unit game, I had a foul-up beyond proportion.

Only 18.5 tables registered, which isn't a big deal, so I set it up as 9 (Section A) and a 10 (Section B) table section with 3 boards. One lady came without a partner, so I filled in to avoid the half table. We sit EW B10.

In the middle of the first round, the North player from Table 11 in Section B comes over to me and says he doesn't have any boards on his table (huh? maybe I miscounted the entries)? No big deal, so I put down 31-33 at Table 11.

After the first round, Table 9 looks confused - where do I move my boards to? There's no one at B8. Is there a sitout? What? There is NO ONE at Table 8.

My blood curdled.

So I go into EdMov in ACBLscore and take out 22 to 24 (these are the boards that collected dust on Table 8 during the 1st round) out of the movement. Hmm, maybe this isn't so tough after all. Another director suggested, just 'renumber' Table 11 as Table 8. (Really?).

In the end, the only real way to rectify this was to renumber 11 as 10, 10 as 9 and 9 as 8. There was one round of "NP's", but other than that, things righted themselves.

The room we play in doesn't have a lot of extra space. The tables were laid out in a not-very-logical order - to keep areas clear for other reasons.

Don't ask me why this foursome was at #11 instead of #8. I still do not know, nor do I know why no one (besides me) noticed that table 8 was vacant.
