Do you agree with double? How should the EW bidding go?

To be honest, I don't think I do agree with double. I'd bid 2C.

As much as West would like to double 2C for takeout, that's illegal :(, so he bids 2D. Now East has an easy 2H (or 3H, if 2H is not forcing). That gets you to 4H, and while (at MPs) you probably want to be in six, I don't think we can reasonably get there - it's just the luck of the crappy diamond suit vs the void.

I'm not bidding slam on this either.

Although a couple of things: 1) I don't bid 2D as West, or 2H as East. If I double as East to start off with, I'm bidding 3H as West, then 4H as East. Making 6

I like X because since partner has Passed, it seems very unlikely we will get past 3NT before it comes back to me. The plan is to rebid clubs (17+) later. Had partner not been a Passed hand, it's a bit more dangerous. I guess I would have bid 2C.

Me too and I HATE the double although that's what I bid if you reverse the minors where I can convert to an equal level.

Change one of the hearts to a spade or diamond in the west hand and you are going to flounder into a very silly contract.

Do you mean if E bids 2? What is your auction then?

Do you not think 4 is a bit...wet? Agreed there isn't a particularly attractive alternative.

I am with ahydra - 2 overcall finishing in 4. When you think you have found a good auction to slam, try switching the pointy kings. It just seems very anti-percentage to go hunting for a low-hcp slam on hands like these after the opps open.
