From North's and opps bidding I know that north has max 3♠s, max 4♥s, therefore at least 6 cards in the minors. From his 4♦ bid he has at least 4♦s and at most 2♣s. So, the question is... What is the meaning of the 4♦ bid ?

A) Want to play in ♦s, drop dead ?

B) Want to play in ♣s, got help in ♦s if you want to play 6 ?

C) Want to bug you ?

4♦ cannot be drop dead when it shows (per the given description) 8-11HCP and you could have up to 21HCP.

Why do you specify that he has at most 2 clubs? (32)53 is probably still possible.

You're right... North could have 1 to 3 ♣s, but that does not explain the 4♦ bid ! Still a wierd bid !

I think the primary advantage of bidding 3♦ instead of 4♣ is that it allows you to play 3N if pard has better hearts.

After 3♣,I am willing to rebid 3♦ showing my 4-6 minors,this is a normal auction.
