Team match, opponents Garozzo (N) and JEC(S)

10th board of 28, leading by more than 40 imps. What is your bid as W? What do you expect your pd to hold for this auction?

I expect partner to have 10 tricks, something like:
AKQxxxxx
-
KQx
Ax

I will bid 6.

I raise to 6. Give partner AKxxxxx none Kxx AQx and six is good. He could easily have the ace of diamonds instead when seven is good. Even AKxxxxx none Axxx Ax has play for grand.

if p has a lot of power I would expect them to x 4n before
bidding 5s so while 5s is probably quite a good playing hand
it would seem p needs some stuff from us to make it (that original
x could in theory have us ending up in 1d x after all).

pass

Partner has a monster, I'd rather bid 7 than stay in 5. One of our minors gotta be worth a trick, even providing 3 tricks is possible.

So 6, I won't risk a bluhmer 6 as he will hardly read it correctly.

I have seen the hand, so it's an easy raise to six. B-)
