Is the Woodson 2 way NT legal ACBL?

Can it be used in local games?

Local clubs can do whatever they damn well please.

Its difficult to tell just what's what with the Woodson NT.

Once upon a time, the Woodson NT was explicitly sanctioned under the GCC. This clause has since been removed. This would lead me to believe that the ACBL intends for the Woodson NT to not be playable in GCC events.

With this said and done, the ACBL defines a NT opening as being natural if

2. A no trump opening or overcall is natural if, by agreement, it is balanced
(generally, no singleton or void and no more than two doubletons).

You are disallowed from playing conventional responses at the GCC level because "Disallowed" contains the following clause

Quote

CONVENTIONAL RESPONSES, REBIDS AND A CONVENTIONAL DEFENSE
TO AN OPPONENT’S CONVENTIONAL DEFENSE after natural no
trump opening bids or overcalls with a lower limit of fewer than 10 HCP or with
a range of greater than 5 HCP (including those that have two non-consecutive
ranges)

However, the opening itself is legal.

Once you hit the Midchart level, the opening is still legal and the restriction on conventional responses is removed.

We had a thread last month that debated how to calculate the "range" of a split range NT opening like this.

http://www.bridgebas...iable-nt-range/

But whichever way it's calculated, it will be more than 5 HCP, so the restriction against conventional responses will apply.
