Bidding starts:
1♣ - (2♣) - 3♦
1♣ opening is 2+♣ (5card majors & 4card diam openings).
2♣ overcall is natural showing 6+clubs.
With no particular agreements on this, how would you interpret pd's jump to 3♦?
Diamonds obviously... but what strength? Forcing or not?

What means this jump to 3D?

Undiscussed, another bad bid. It better be a fit jump and forcing by an unpassed hand.

Are you confident that 2♦ would have been forcing? Some people I know would prob bid this naturally, worried that 2♦ could be passed. With more experienced players, I'd assume fit.

If undiscussed, forcing.Imo either strong hand with ♦ or more likely solid ♦ suit & asking partner to bid 3nt with ♣ stopper.

Strange, I seem to be in a quorum of one in thinking this ought to be preemptive. The FJ makes little sense with partner showing 2 and RHO showing 6, while strong is a fairly ridiculous waste of bidding space.

2♦ is natural and forcing, a fit jump with 6 clubs in front of you makes no sense...
Must be weak, not only non forcing but drop dead without an exceptional opener.

Preemptive is the only thing that makes sense in context.

well it cannot be fitted if LHO is showing the suit. That would be absurd.
If 2♦ is forcing, then 3♦ is weak. If 2♦ is NF (I actually play this way), 3♦ in my preferred method shows a good hand with hearts, since 3♣ shows diamonds.
