Dear Gib Maintainers,

Could you please just abolish the 2NT response to a 2C opening?
2NT shows 8-11 HCP balanced, and is such horrible, useless convention, esp. since I cannot find any way to locate a 4-4 trump-fit after that when both hands are balanced.
All the 3-level rebids to 2NT show a 5-cards suit.

MUCH BETTER if Gib just responds with 2D on these hands.

There are a number of places I hate the system, but that is a lower priority than bids that are simply broken, sorry.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

I suppose you are right about priority JDonn, but Stefan is right about this auction. What is sad is that I am going on 3 years playing regularly in GIB tournaments, and BBO has owned GIB for years before that, but such minimal progress has been made. I do thank you for your recent regular responses to posts here.

OK, could you give us some update of broken bids, where you are actually working on a fix?

I agree there are a number of "higher prios" to fix -- here is definitely one, because it pops up every day:
http://www.bridgebas...tter-gf-system/

But it seems, most needed fixes are generally so complex and have "repercussions" throughout the system,
that I get the impression they will never get fixed, anyways.

This one (2C-2NT) at least seems so easy that I assume it should be simple to fix.
Just remove one bid from the Gib's bidding-box, so to speak.
Therefore, I suggested it, along the line of
Better fix SOMETHING than NOTHING.

In a GIB upgrade that is coming out soon, one problem that is fixed (of many) is GIB didn't bid correctly over the auction 1N - 2C - 2H - 2S (showing 4 spades and invitational values). Opener might bid 3NT with 4 spades, or opener might bid 4S then responder would bid 5S. That is what I mean by "broken". Not an (arguably) inferior conventional treatment.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Ok, thanks jdonn.
I must say I never encountered that one, that I can remember, though....

The 2C-2NT, I see like every week or more.

I would just suggest frequency (+ ease of fix, as suggested above) should also go into your priorization.

Also, how do you define "broken"?

When there is no way at all, that I can see, to locate a 4-4 trump fit in any suit,
it sure is SERIOUSLY BROKEN, if you ask me....
