is an interesting hand from a robot tournament. I am not sure how to show it as a tinyurl, but I will try;

North's spades are KJ5 to save you doing sleuthwork.

A handviewer hack would help. But certainly doesn't look like at least 5-4 in favour of the major suit.

What do you call a nine-card suit?

If talking about GIB, how does it bid clubs? Too many clubs to possibly make a bid. Maybe a 6 or 7 card suit can be bid at some point.

The most amazing thing about this hand is that SR is playing against robots!!!
OTH, GIB IME will bid Cappelletti 2 major with 4+ xxx shapes so long as the total points are OK.
The algorithm seems to favour the major. GIB is apparently happy with whatever else it has so long as it has at least 4 in a major, at least 5 in a minor and at least a certain number of total points.
Then, computer says YES.

GIB is structured around the old-fashioned 'choose your own adventure' DOS arcade games.

Yes I sometimes play in the free tournaments, when I should be doing Bridgemaster instead. At least the reward is that the robot sometimes throws up hilarity, as here.

Don't be coy - it may be a different game, but it is fun Posted Image

Where is the abuse? :)

Cappelletti - spades and a minor -- 3- ; 4+ ; 11+ total points

Btw, GiB would also overcall 2 with the black suits reversed, i.e. on

(I just checked.)

Perhaps GIB should quit bridge and pursue a career in comedy

Poor Gib gets a lot of stick :( 2 isn't so insane if the partnership agreement is that it is the system-bid on such hands. It's unlikely that partner has a suit but it is possible. Presumably, subsequent bids are canapé :)

If you want to abuse GIB's use of Cappelletti, here's how I do it Posted Image.

GIB has bid this way for years, and its amazing how many 4-2 fits make.
In games where you dont have best hand you can show both majors when 3-3
