Pass in either case. If pard Xs I'll sit for it, if pard bids 3N I'll bid 4H assuming he has 4 of them. I don't think its possible for partner to pass... maybe xxx xxxx xxxxx x? I don't know, in practice I doubt it ever happening. I won't X 3S with just 2 trumps, and I won't bid 4H or 3N when pard can have 4 spades and be waiting for them.

In this situation, I dont care if my opponents
are world class, as long as I can trust partner.

Pass seems obvious, I just wonder what p is supposed to do with four hearts and no spade stopper. Maybe it's better to play dbl for t/o here, then partner will have an easy action whether I pass or double.
Whether I trust the opps or not is unimportant, since partner must make the decision.

I think the solution to this problem is not pass and hope partner will double with four spades. That seems backwards to me. You have described your hand with your 2NT bid, you have very little extra to describe (true your 20 point hand has now zoomed to 21 as AQ of spades is as good as AK, also the QJx of clubs is now worth more than it was before too).
In fact, I think if you pass, your partners double will be "takeout" not penalty. And your double would be "takeout" not penalty too. With this hand, I am torn between double (which would be takeout for me) and pass. Since stayman here shows values (I am not of the school run from 2NT when "Weak" to avoid fourth seat double), I like the double. The only down side is that partner might not have a hand totally suited for a reopening takeout double, in which case we might miss 3NT. But I am going to double anyway. IF partner has three of four spades, he may sit for this double, and if not he will bid.

I would have assumed here that:
- pass is forcing and shows 4 hearts, (e.g. in a GF forcing auction, pass is equivalent to a neg double, and double is business)
- double and 3NT other hand types without 4 hearts ?
Does the above make any sense ?

Q1) Why did opp pass originally with a S pre-empt? (He has hearts.....or a flaw.)
Q2) Pard has values (game is on) or he has nothing xxx,xxxx,xxxxx,x
Q3)Where's our surest plus? Pass is the logical choice at IMPS but at MP I like dbl as a 2-way shot.

3♣ do not promise ♥, but very likely. As no discussion with PD for the situation, I would like to dbl --- an active reply to PD's inquiry, encouraging.
I wont have problem with PD's decision, whether it is pass or bid.
In another word, if I PASS, it will be forcing, but not encouraging to bid ♥ somewhat.
If PD holds yarborough and run to his minor (why?), I will have to discuss with him after the match.
